Finally, on March 1st, Premametta Japanese Language School officially starts.
Due to COVID pandemic, the start of the school was delayed for about a year and a half. There were days were worried that we might not be able to survive for a while, but we finally open the school.
In February, we held free Japanese classes for those who passed the interview exam and alternates.
This was an attempt to remove the anxiety of not knowing when the classes would start and to keep everyone motivated.
I am glad that I was able to communicate with everyone during this month.
The school is a training facility for the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), which sends talented people from India to Japan as nursing interns.
Every Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., we have a full schedule of classes.
In addition to studying Japanese language, they learn about Japanese culture and lifestyle, and also learn nursing skills before going to Japan. (Current nursing care workers will be coming from Japan to teach us.) In added to the local instructors, there will be online classes four times a week by Japanese teachers from Japan. And we have a special class to prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT/NAT),too.
We also support trainees in their preparation for interviews with Japanese companies.
GVO INDA PRIVATE LIMITED, the company established in India to operate the Premmametta Japanese Language School, stands for Grove of India, and the word “Grove” means “small forest, grove, or orchard.” Just as a grove grows into a forest, or a fruit tree bears many fruits, we hope that our determination and skills to lovingly nurture our trainees help them nurture their own country, India.
We named it with the hope that they will be able to develop their skills for India.
We will do our best to live up to this name.
This is the beginning of a new challenge to fulfill our long cherished dream of having “graduates of the Prema Metta School” play an active role in Japan and around the world.
We move forward slowly, step by step, so please continue to watch over us.
The Premametta Japanese Language School was established in order to provide opportunities for talented youth in the impoverished state of Bihar to acquire skills. Our goal is that the children who continue to study at our elementary school, Premmametta School, for six or seven years, until they graduate, will be able to make further progress when they move on to junior high school and high school.
In the future, we plan to build a nursing care facility in Bodhgaya where trainees who return to India after completing their training period in Japan can play an active role. We also hope that the trainees themselves will use the knowledge and experiences they have gained to play an active role in their own local communities and contribute to the revitalization of the region.
There is an entrance fee of 25,000 rupees and a monthly fee of 600 rupees, but no other fees will be charged.
One local teacher and one staff member will be paid, but we, the board members work without pay.
