Time flies fast. It is already October!

The rainy season seems to be over and the humidity is gone. The temperature is still hot, around 35 degrees Celsius, but it does not feel humidity so that we feel a bit comfortable.

It’s been 7 months since the school was closed due to Lock dowon.

We expect to get announce this week whether or not the school will reopen. We deeply hope that they will be able to reopen.

Today, I would like to talk about the food for the 8 children who live in dormitories at the Prema Metta School .

Fifty kilos of rice, another 50 kilos of whole wheat flour, and 10 kilos of lentils are enough food for a month. (We adults eat with them too.)

Basically, We cook for three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), but some children need to eat four or more times in a day!!

We have a monthly budget for food so we control to buy vegetables. We would like to include eggs or chicken in the menu once a week, but it’s not easy to do on a budget for now.

However, in order to make sure the children get the nutrition they need, we cook the leaves of Moringa, as you know it is called ” miracle plant ”  and flowers of Agastya, which is used in Ayurveda.

It is currently the season for these plants and we pick them from the school and guesthouse gardens and cooked.

The older students cook.

Breakfast of the day was rice or chapatti and pakora, curry of soybean meat and agastya flower and bean’s curry.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, and it was finished in no time!

Donations are used to feed and care for the children in the dormitory, distribute food to the children in the village, and provide teachers salaries for during Lock down.

Once school opens, a belated new school year begins.

Schools in India are inevitably dense due to the size of the classes and the number of children. At Prema Metta School, we are planning to deal with this by placing disinfectant in each class. In addition to distributing textbooks and uniforms, we also want to distribute new masks for each student.

The guesthouse, which is located next door to the school, has been unable to operate for 7 months and we are concerned about the school’s operational costs, so we need to ask you for donations.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Donation

Thank you.
